Nelda Mae Shows

Nelda Mae Shows of Pearl, passed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at her home in Pearl. She was 86 years old. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday August 5, 2022 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and then again on Saturday August 6, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at New Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Martinsville, MS, next to her husband.

Mrs. Shows was born January 13, 1936, in Sontag, MS to the late Ela and Jessie Honea. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where she enjoyed teaching Vacation Bible School. She worked at a daycare, and she enjoyed her work. She enjoyed bowling and bowled on 3 different cellphones and wouldn’t quit until she scored at least 200. She also bowled in a league until her health wouldn’t allow it. She loved the Lord, her family and enjoyed fishing.

Along with her parents, Nelda was also preceded in death by her husband, V.V. Shows, Jr.; sisters, Hilda Murphy, Adelle Smith; brother, Calvin Honea; and grandson, Chase Reynolds. She is survived by her sons, Joey (Beverly) Shows of Pearl, Scott (Peggy) Shows of Pearl, and Carl (Tina) Shows of Dexter, MO; grandchildren, Lynn (Jonathan) Gould, Jeremy Shows, Megan Shows, Justin Shows, Jonathan Shows, and Angus (Brittany) Roberts; and great grandchildren, Logan and Lincoln Smith, Jade and Jon Michael Gould, Allison Shows, and Winston Roberts.
