Mrs. Nell Jackson Mees

Mrs. Nellmarie “Nell” Jackson Mees passed away Monday, August 9, 2021 at her home in Richland. A Memorial Service will be scheduled. Due to Covid, the date is to be determined. Nell was born April 9, 1940 to the late Charlie and Annie Sykes Jackson. She grew up on a farm in Russell County, VA the seventh of nine children. She loved and lived for her family. She was a gentle and patient teacher to her family and enjoyed hosting family get togethers. She was a strong woman who enjoyed playing football with her sons. She also enjoyed bowling, gardening and canning. She was a hard worker who retired from Tyson Foods after 25 years. Along with her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Mees; brothers, Homer Jackson, Ellis “Jack” Jackson, and Ralph Jackson (late, Deb Cowan); and sisters, Iva Jean Manning and Virginia Ball (late husband, Mack). She is survived by her sons, Troy Mees of Byram, Ronnie Mees of Florence and Rusty (Lynda) Mees of Florence; daughter, Marina (Calvin) Pickett of Richland; brothers, Glenn Jackson (late wife, Anna Ruth) of Blackstone, VA and Charles D. (Yvon) Jackson of Midlothian, VA; sister, Ruth Davis (late husband, Gene) of Jacksonville, FL; sisters-in-law, Virginia Jackson and Jean Jackson, Both of Lebanon, VA; brother -in-law, Larry Manning of FL; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
