Mrs. Nita Massey

Alice Juanita “Nita” Massey, 77, passed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, November 30, 2020 at MS Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, December 4th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and again, Saturday, December 5th from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories. Mrs. Massey was born May 27, 1943 in Meridian, MS to the late Vester and Grace Reid. After being raised in Lauderdale County, she moved to Pearl in the Mid 70’s where she lived the rest of her life. She was a long-time member at Pearl United Methodist Church and attended The Pointe for the last 5 years. She worked as a bookkeeper for all of her life, working many years at Sunflower, before working at Massey Machine. She was a very loving lady and was devoted to her grandchildren. Along with her parents, Mrs. Massey is also preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Massey and her daughter, Connie Ponder. She is survived by her son, Donald (Amanda) Massey of Pearl; brothers, Ronnie Reid of Meridian, MS and Bill Reid of Pine Springs, MS; grandchildren, Grace and Melody Massey, Lindsey Lewis, Taylor McKay, and Baylee and Jordan Ponder; and son-in-law, Joe Ponder of Brandon, MS.
