Mr. Norman Ellis Johnson

January 21, 1949 — November 8, 2014

Norman Ellis Johnson, 65, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, November 8, 2014, after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be from 9:30am-10:00am, Wednesday, November 12, 2014 with a Memorial Service following at 10:00am at First Baptist Church Brandon, located at 309 South College Street, Brandon, MS. Norman was born on January 21, 1949, in Jackson, MS. He attended Jackson Public Schools, graduating from Provine High School. He was an avid Ram fan! He attended Mississippi State University, graduating in 1971. Norman loved his years at MSU and was a loyal supporter. After graduating from MSU, he worked for MDOT. He then went on to work in the IT Department with Jackson Public Schools for 20 years. Upon retiring from JPS, he worked for Jitney Jungle in their IT Department. Norman was a very knowledgeable IT expert who helped everyone. Computers and IT work was his passion. On many occasions he helped others, not expecting anything in return. When he wasn't working on computers, he loved to watch westerns and war movies. Norman and Patsy tried to outwit each other with game shows, especially “Wheel of Fortune” and late night recordings of “Jeopardy”. Survivors include his wife, Patsy Allen Johnson, daughter Amanda Parish (John), and granddaughter, Megan, of Frisco, TX, son, David Johnson, of Tuscaloosa, AL, stepdaughter, Donna Floyd (Richie), step grandchildren, Dalton, Jeanna and Luke of Pearl, MS, Uncle Douglas Stewart of Montgomery, AL, sisters-in-laws Ann Kelly of Jackson, Sue Magee of Brookhaven, and Zeneece White (Joe) of Pascagoula, and a host of nieces and nephews. Norman was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah Kenmore Johnson, parents Etta Stewart Johnson and Clinton Johnson, and brothers-in-laws, Barry Kelly and Jerry Magee. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorials be made to St. Jude Research Hospital, Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital, or Mississippi State University Foundation Scholarship Fund.
