Mrs. Ola Coker McElveen

Ola Coker McElveen, 85, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2013 in Arlington, TX. Visitation will be 6-8pm Wednesday, December 18, 2013 and 10am until the 11am funeral service Thursday, December 19, 2013, all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment will follow at Adams UMC Cemetery in Auburn, MS. Mrs. McElveen was born in Gonzales, TX to the late Leon Mercer and Mary Elizabeth Jung Mercer. She retired from Kroger after 33 years of loyal service and she loved to watch the Dallas Mavericks and Texas Rangers. She is preceded in death by her husband John R. Coker, husband Hugh McElveen and sister Claudia Horton. Survivors include her son John Richard Coker (Karen) of Streetman, TX; step daughters Linda Richards (Bernard) of Brandon, MS, Peggy Hemphill of New Hartford, CT and Barbara Powell (David) of Atlanta, GA; sisters Janell Kernodell and Pearl McCulloch both of San Antonio, TX; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
