Jean E. Singletary, 81, formerly of Jackson and Florence, MS went to be with her Lord on Thursday, January 17, 2008. She had been at Central Mississippi Medical Center battling pneumonia for over a week before her home going. Her devoted husband and her long time companion, Mrs. Sadie McIntyre of Florence, were by her side when she passed away.\ \ Visitation will be on Sunday, January 20 from 2 - 5 pm at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence and 10 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 21 in the funeral home chapel. Internment will be at the Florence Cemetery following the service. The burial will be just four days prior to what would have been her 61st wedding anniversary.\ \ \ Mrs. Singletary was born on August 23, 1926, in Jackson, MS and graduated from Central High School there. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she later married. She worked as an administrative assistant and secretary in the Jackson Public Schools Central office. Later, she helped her husband found Authorized Appliance Service, Inc. in Jackson and worked there as bookkeeper until her retirement. In her younger years, she was an avid bunko player and water skier. She took an interest in bowling later in life, winning several trophies along the way. Mrs. Singletary also had a ceramic studio in her home and enjoyed making gifts for family and friends. The consummate mother, her main focus was always on attending any of the sporting or other events in which her five children participated. In 1972, she moved to Florence, her husband's childhood home. She was a member of Marvin United Methodist Church and served for many years as secretary & treasurer of the Mary Bozeman Sunday School Class.\ \ Mrs. Singletary was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Lorye Little Everett and her sister, Helen E. Smith all of Jackson.\ \ She is survived by her husband, W. Milton "Bud" Singletary and their children: Linda S. Davis of Ridgeland; Bill Singletary and wife, Donna, of Madison; Becky Hines and husband, Bobby, of Florence; Homer Singletary and wife Donna P. "Danni", of Florence and David Singletary of Biloxi and Florence. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Laurie Mohon and husband, Brian, of Jackson; Andy Singletary and wife, Ashley, of Florence; Adrienne Rainer and husband, Eric of Florence; Jennifer Mitchell and husband, Corey of Florence; Tripp Davis of Ridgeland and Elizabeth Dickson of Florence. Lastly, she is survived by her great-grandchildren, David Ethan Singletary, Ana Campbell Singletary and Michael Leyton Rainer.\ \ \ In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Marvin United Methodist Church - Building Fund, 211 N.
