Ora Belle Bridges, 90, passed away after a brief illness on Monday, October 9, 2017 at MS Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation will be at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence Wednesday, October 11th from 5-8 p.m. and on Thursday, October 12th from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. Celebration of Life service. Interment will follow in Harrisville Cemetery. Ora Belle is survived by her son, Jimmy (Linda) Massengill of Florence; 5 sisters-in-law, 7 nieces and 4 nephews. She loved people and had many friends that quickly became part of her family. The last 5 years were some of great joy and adventure because of one particular young lady, Kristen Gaskin. She was a member of Harrisville Baptist Church. Upon graduating in 1946, Mrs. Bridges began working at Turner Togs that later became Dickies Manufacturing. There, she was a seamstress making buttonholes and cuffs. She was very proud to say that she worked 50 years at the same place doing the same thing. She was known for being a hard worker in whatever she did. In 2012, Mrs. Bridges moved to Florence to live with her son and his family. She had 5 years enjoying her acquired large family of 2 grandsons and their wives, a granddaughter and her husband, and the best of all, 5 great grandchildren. Her life was all about her son, Jimmy and he finds comfort in knowing she lived a good life with good health and very few limitations in her later years.
