Oscar Carroll Fowler, 83, passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 at Beau Ridge Independent Living & Memory in Ridgeland. Visitation will be 5-8pm Thursday, January 10, 2019 and 10am until the 11am funeral service Friday, January 11, 2019, all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment will follow at Springridge United Methodist Church Cemetery in Terry. Mr. Fowler was born October 1, 1935 to Mr. and Mrs. Martin Vanburen Fowler in Rose Hill, MS. He was a graduate of Rose Hill High School where he was a standout basketball player. After graduation, he attended Jones Junior College. He left college to join Mississippi Power & Light as a lineman. Mr. Fowler went on to build a successful career as an electrical, heating and cooling contractor. He and his wife of almost 62 years, Maxine, owned and operated Capital City Heating and Cooling until their retirement in 2000. They were longtime residents of Terry and active members at Spring Ridge United Methodist Church, where he served as trustee. Mr. Fowler loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener, fisherman and golfer. He was also a faithful booster of Mississippi State athletics. Mr. Fowler is survived by his wife, Maxine M. Fowler; son, David Fowler (Erin) of Ocean Springs; daughter, Carol Fowler Klobucar (David) of Evanston, IL; brother, Eugene Fowler of Terry; grandchildren, Kate Klobucar, Christine Bergjans, Andrew Fowler and Luke Fowler. The Fowler family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to staff members at Beau Ridge Memory Care and Compassus Hospice for caring for their precious loved one during his final days.
