Ouida Merle (Martin) Kemp went home to be with the Lord on September 26, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, A.R. Kemp, her parents, Luther & Agnes Martin, Sr., her brother Luther (Blue) Martin, Jr., and her sister Helen (Boots) Foster. Ouida was born 10/3/1925 in Rocky Springs (Claiborne County), MS and lived most of her life in Utica, Jackson & Raymond, MS. She attended Utica Consolidated School, Atlanta Opportunity School and Hinds Community College. She worked at the age of 16 at the tomato packing shed in Utica. At the age of 18 she passed the Civil Service Exam and went to work at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. along with her cousin Lela Martin. Upon returning home to go to Hinds she continued working for the Civil Service Department in Jackson. At the age of 21 she began working at the MS Employment Security Commission. She and Rezelle worked at Prassel Lumber Company until opening their own business - Raymond Lumber Company. She is survived by three daughters Pat Oakes, Katie Shuff (Tommy), Lydia Carlisle, nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Melanie and J.W., Lexi, Lori and Randy, Greg, Adrienne and Michelle, 16 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jayden and Hunter, Addison and Britney, Aubrey, Caitlyn, Cade and Emry, Jackson and Sadie, Wes and Owen, Troy, Evan and Mallory, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ouida was a long time member of Van Winkle Baptist Church where she served as Pre-School Coordinator, Missions & WMU Leader and FBC, Raymond where she served at Church Secretary, Missions & WMU Leader. At the age of 66 she served as a missionary in Israel at the Baptist Village in PetaTikva for 2 years. She came home for 6 months and returned to Israel for another year. Upon her return home she worked at Central MS Medical Center ICU/CCU Desk for over 10 years until her retirement. She lived at Riggs Manor until December, 2012. Visitation will be Friday, 10/3/14 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday 10/4/14 from 9 to10 a.m. all at FBC Raymond. Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at FBC Raymond followed by interment at Raymond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please give to the Lottie Moon Offering through FBC Raymond, P.O.
