Paul Lynwood Cooper, 76, passed away at his home in Florence on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Visitation will be Thursday, March 21st from 5-8 and Friday, March 22nd from 1 PM until the 2 PM funeral service at First Baptist Church in Richland. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park on Clinton Blvd. Mr. Cooper was a member of First Baptist Church in Richland. He was also a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and MS Barrel Racing Association where he was a 3 time Senior Barrel Racing World Champion. He was an avid outdoorsman; a true sportsman that spent his life not only competing but helping others in the sporting field. He had a sign on his house that read “An old man lives here that has the best family and friends a man could have and he thanks God for them everyday”. Mr. Cooper is survived by his daughter, Missy (Andy) Phillips of Florence; ex-wife, Frances Cooper of Florence, MS; special friend, Wanda Brown of Brandon, MS; sisters, Elaine Boatman of Raymond, Joyce Williams of Florence, Cutie Persons of Jackson; granddaughter, Morgan Phillips; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to say a special Thank You to all of his family and friends that helped him through his illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Richland.
