Mrs. Peggy Acey

September 28, 1934 — January 23, 2018

Peggy Steele Morgan Acey, went peacefully into the arms of her Savior on January 23, 2018, surrounded by her friends and family. Peggy was born September 28, 1934, in Attala County, the daughter of Eddie Guyton Morgan and Lela Mae Payne. She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Michael Acey (Lisa), Pam Acey Sudderth (Alan), Stan Acey (Elisa), Tim Acey (Paige), 12 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Colleen Hutchison, and numerous nieces and nephews. Peggy married Paul Acey, her high school sweetheart, in Jackson, Mississippi in 1953. Soon thereafter, they became the proprietors of the McDowell Road Esso, McDowell Road Chevron, and retired from Acey's Texaco on McDowell Road. Peg served her husband and community for over 50 years. Her home was always open to anyone, and one thing for sure, she never let you leave hungry. Church, family, and friends were Peggy’s passion and happiness. She was a faithful member of McDowell Road Baptist Church. Found scribbled in the front of her bible was a note to read 1 Peter 3:8-12 every day. Read this and you will know who Peggy Acey was: 8 Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. 9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. 10 For, “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech. 11 They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it.12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” Visitation will be 10am-2pm at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram on Friday, January 26, 2018. Funeral services are 2pm in the funeral home chapel with interment to follow at Lakewood South Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mississippi Alzheimer's Chapter or Heterotoxy Connection at P.O. Box 585, Draper, UT 84020 in Peggy’s name.
