Mr. Percy R. Broome

Percy Ray Broome, 81, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the V.A. Nursing Home in Collins. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 23rd from 5-8 PM and Wednesday, July 24th from 1 PM until the 2 PM funeral service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow at the adjacent Garden of Memories. Mr. Broome has lived in Florence for 40 years and was an active member and Deacon of First Baptist Church of Florence and former member of Creston Hills Baptist Church in Jackson. He loved peach trees and was an avid fisherman. Mr. Broome was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Broome; parents, Emerson and Ida Basfield Broome; and his brothers, Hurd, Willie, Kelly and Sherlon Broome. He is survived by his sons Donald Broome of Richland and Melton Darryl Broome of Florence; daughter, Phyllis Broome Creel (George) of Florence; sister Laverne Broome Osborne (Ronny) of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Traci Creel, Angie Creel Neely, Justin Broome and Josh Broome; and great grandchildren, Logan and Carter Broome and Conner and Cooper Neely.
