Mr. Pete Mitchell

Franklin “Pete” Mitchell, 84, passed away on Thursday, April 08, 2021. Visitation will be Saturday, April 10, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at 11:00 a.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, MS. Mr. Mitchell was born on July 19, 1936 to Dewitt Mitchell and Hattie Bell Pearson Mitchell in Kilmichael, MS. After serving in the US Army, he was employed with the Jackson Police Department for 23 years. He was a three-term constable of Hinds County, and retired from the Hinds County Circuit Clerks office as a Deputy Circuit Clerk. Pete was also a 60 years member of the Leavell Woods Masonic Lodge #620 and a 32degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nellie Mitchell; daughters: Tracy (Steve) Tidwell of Madison and Angie (Clark) Bobst of Carthage; three grandchildren, Mitch and Weston Tidwell and Nikolas Bobst; and brother-in-law, Finley Stricklin.
