Phillip R. Hutton Hardy, 82, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013 at the MS Baptist Medical Center. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 15 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram and 10-11 a.m. Thursday at St. Therese Catholic Church. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. at the church with burial to follow in Lakewood Memorial Park South. Mr. Hardy was born in Meridian on April 8, 1931 to George Taylor Hutton Sr. and Martha Daly Hutton, and grew up in Philadelphia. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He received his master’s degree from Mississippi State University. He was a longtime resident of Jackson. He retired as a statistician after 41 years working for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. Mr. Hardy was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 49 years, Peggy Hill Hardy; son, Lee Breland Hardy; son-in-law, Mark Castellucci; brothers, Robert Hutton and Rev. George Hutton; and sister, Catherine Lynch. He is survived by his children, Patricia Castellucci of Jackson, Phillip R. H. Hardy, II of Jackson, Debbie Harrell of Zachary, LA, Cindy Stubblefield (Dan) of Madison, and Jamie Hardy of Jackson; grandchildren, Christy Harrell Aucoin (Nick), Conan Castellucci, Joey Harrell, Brad Stubblefield (Kristan), Matt Stubblefield, and Tyler Hardy; great grandchildren, Clayton Renaud and John Wesley Aucoin; sisters, Evelyn Carmichael and Dorothy Miller; sister-in-law, Patricia Hill Madison; numerous nieces and nephews; his canine companion, Zeus.
