James Phillip Steinwinder, also known as “Bubba”, passed away on Sunday, March 07, 2021 at his home in Florence, MS. He was 63 years old. Phillip was born to James Glen Steinwinder and Stella Boozer Steinwinder on August 02, 1957 in Jackson, MS. He was employed as a salesman with W.W. Grainger for 15 years, but his true passion was martial arts and he was the sensei of his own martial arts class for 13 years. A 3rd Dan Black Belt, he practiced Tae-Kwon-Do and Hapkido for many years. He taught his daughter, Kimberly, how to do sidekicks before she could even walk by showing her how to use the coffee table for support. Phillip believed everyone had a right to self-defense and wanted to start a class for the elderly. The day he was diagnosed with his illness, he went into Ramey’s in Florence and on the bottom of his receipt was written the Bible verse Philippians 1:21: “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain”. He lived by this verse and every time he went into Ramey’s, that same verse would be on the bottom of the receipt. Each time, he would tear it off and put it in his pocket. Phillip loved Jesus and his family. He was a long-time member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly (Daltson) Thiel of Montrose, MI; his life partner, Connie Patton of Florence; sister, Jennifer Steinwinder Dickson of Florence; nephew, Daniel (Nicole) Dickson of Florence; great-nephews, Cash Dickson and Mason and Parker Manning and great-niece, Stella Cate Dickson. He was preceded in death by his father, James Glen Steinwinder and mother, Stella Boozer Steinwinder; niece, Melanie Dawn Manning; and brother-in-law, Jeff Allan Dickson. Chancellor Funeral Home handled the cremation. No services are scheduled at this time
