R. C. Stephens

R.C. Stephens passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Merit Health River Oaks in Flowood. He was 77 years old. No services are scheduled at this time.

R.C. was born May 14, 1945 in Laurel, MS to the late Cleveland and Ruby Stephens. He loved his family, especially his grandkids. He met the love of his life in 1993 and they spent the next 28 years together. He loved being a mechanic, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t’ fix. Everyone was always trying to get him to work on their cars, 18 wheelers, and heavy machinery. In his spare time, he loved to fish. 

Along with his parents, R.C. was also preceded in death by his sister, Betty McCaffrey. He is survived by his wife, Darlene Abernathy of Richland; son, John Stephens of Richland; grandchildren, Levi and Lanie Joe Abernathy; and stepson, Layne (Jessica) Abernathy of Harrisville.
