Rachel Elaine McClelland Thompson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was born June 10, 1939, passed away May 20, 2015 at her home at the age of 75. She was a resident of Buford Yerger Retirement Center in Jackson, MS. Rachel will be sorely missed by those who loved her dearly. She loved her family and cherished every minute she was able to spend with them. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ruby and Lem McClelland, a brother Algin McClelland, and a grandson, Forrest Lee Cotten. She is survived by her three daughters Cynthia Wilburn (Jimmy) of New Iberia, La., Vanessa Barlow (David) of Raymond, Ms., and Phyllis Terry of Lewisville, Tx.; seven grandchildren, Vincent Clay (Michelle) of Hattiesburg, Ms., Tiffany Barlow of Jackson, Ms., Wayne McCrory (Jandi) of Royce City, Tx., Alan Terry (Heather) of Lewisville, Tx., Celeste Hammond (David) of Benton, Ark., Marcus Hammond of Benton, Ark , and Anthony “Tony” Hammond of Benton, Ark. She also leaves behind 13 great grandchildren; sister Nancy Barry (Jimmy) of Terry, Ms, and a half-brother J. L. McClelland of Ms. A visitation will be from 1:00pm until the 2:00pm memorial service on Sunday May 24, 2015 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, Ms. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you would make a donation to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Association.
