Ralph Davis, 88, finished his race and went to be with His Lord on October, 23, 2015. Visitation will be on Monday, October 26, from 9 am until the 11 am service at Alta Woods Baptist Church in Jackson. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson. Born in Summerland, Mr. Davis lived in Jackson for the past 58 years. Part of the Greatest Generation, he courageously served his country with the Navy in WWII and the Korean War. He was a retired painting contractor and owned Davis Painting Company. Mr. Davis was a member of Alta Woods Baptist Church for over 50 years, where he served as a deacon and usher. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette, who he affectionately called “the prettiest redhead in town.” Their marriage of 60 years exemplified the covenant of “until death do us part.” He is also survived by his son, Paul Davis of Houston, TX; daughters Cindy (Bobby) Barrett of Brandon; Tammy (Harold) Ades of Utica; siblings J.T Davis, Pat Parker, and Nelda Lee, all of Texas; grandchildren Stephanie and Emily Barrett, Abby, Justin (Rachael), Elise, and Anna Claire Ades, and Avery Davis. Great-Grandchildren Jenna and Sophie Ades. He is welcomed into eternity by his parents, four brothers, one sister, and grandson, Ryan Wade Barrett. Ralph Davis never met a stranger, always had a good joke to tell, and prayed with every person he met. Even during the last days of his life, he was found saying a word of prayer with his doctors. As a family, we are grateful for his legacy of faith. He often spoke of the goodness of God and was faithful to “commend His Kingdom to another generation.” We do not grieve as those without hope. He ran his race well. His faith has now become sight! In just a little while, those who are in Christ, will see him again. Until that day, may his legacy continue in our lives. The love of God was the theme of Ralph’s life. May we all live in such a way to display God’s love and goodness. O love of God, how rich and pure! How measureless and strong! It shall forevermore endure The saints' and angels' song. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alta Woods Baptist Church, 168 Colonial Drive, Jackson, MS 39204.
