Mrs. Ramize Dervishi Jones

Ramize Dervishi Jones passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 2, 2018 from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Florence. Interment will follow at Clear Branch Cemetery in Florence. Ramize was born in Bosnia, a section of old Yugoslavia on February 12, 1974. She was later raised in what is now the country of Kosovo. After surviving the Bosnian war, Ramize served as a Kosovo police officer where she met and married Jim Jones, a retired JPD deputy chief working under the direction of the United Nations. She relocated permanently to the US in 2006, frequently returning to her home country to visit her family. Family was very dear to her; she loved each of them with all her heart. Ramize was preceded in death by her father, Ramadan Dervishi. She leaves behind her husband of thirteen years, Jim Jones, her only child, Eric Jones, her step son, Chris Jones, her mother Sanie Dervishi of Germany, her brother Adem Dervishi of Austria, four sisters; Nazmia of France, Fatmira of Germany, Fatima and Albulena of Kosovo, two nephews; Arton and Eric and three nieces; Adelina, Delvina, and Amelia. Ramize never got to see young Amelia in person due to her illness; she so longed to hold her and smother her with kisses , an event that can now only happen when they meet in heaven. Ramize retained a strong sense of her family’s Islam religion; however, she, without question, found, and accepted, Jesus Christ as her personal savior. She loved it when neighbors and friends took her by the hand and prayed for her; it gave her a sense of peace. Her earthly absence will truly be felt by many.
