Our beloved Daddy, Raymond Earl Barrett, Jr., 87, known to all of his friends as “Buster”, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 29, 2014 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be Saturday, January 3, 2015 beginning at 10:00 am with a memorial service starting at 11:00 am at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, MS. A lifelong resident of Jackson, Buster was a graduate of Central High School and attended MS State University. He proudly served in the United States Navy in World War II and loved to talk about his days on the ship. He was in the office supply business most of his life and never met a stranger. He was an animal lover who spoiled every stray that conveniently made their way to our home! His German Shepherd Prince stole his heart and he leaves behind a special cat, Mr. Pete. He is preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Sweetie and his parents, Raymond Earl Barrett, Sr. and Mary Eva Butler Barrett. He is survived by his son, Jim Barrett of Madison, his daughter, Virginia Barrett Durham (Jim) of Madison, his grandson, Chris Barrett of Ridgeland, his sister, Sarah Ann Merry (Dan) of Conway, Arkansas and two nieces Cynthia Crochet and Melissa Nettles (Jamey). He also leaves behind many special friends at the Home Place in Madison. The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Dominic for the wonderful care Daddy received. Memorials may be made to the Mississippi Animal Rescue League, 5221 Greenway Drive Ext, Jackson, MS 39204.
