Rebecca White Finley, 91, of Raymond Mississippi went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 12, 2018. She was at her childhood home surrounded by loved ones. She was under the care of her eldest child, Toosheyah Chapman. Rebecca was born on February 22, 1927, in Raymond, Mississippi to the late Reverend John and Marie White. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age at Pine Grove M. B. Church. She attended Hines Community College. She was joined in marriage to the love of her life, Wilbur G. Finley in Mississippi on July 28, 1949. Rebecca made their home in Utica, Mississippi until the birth of her 5th child, at which time they moved their family to Chicago, Illinois, where they added four more children to theirhappy family. She was a stay at home mom, a wonderful seamstress and beautician, an avid gardener and loving chef. She was a founding member of One Way Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago Il. She was a lover of the Scriptures and was very active in the church. She later moved her membership to Union Hill MB Church where again she shared her wonderful gifts, talents and abilities in service to the Lord. In all that she was involved in, she found time to be active in her local neighbor community and served as a boy scout den mother. After her youngest child started school, she entered the work force and retired from Mullins international in 1994. On June 23, 1970, Rebecca experienced the arrival of the first of their 30 grandchildren. She loved her grandchildren like there was no tomorrow, a smile to share and a word of wisdom to impart. She was always suspiciously the winner at board games played with her grand children.. In 2003, She returned to Raymond to spend the rest of her life enjoying the company of her siblings . She moved into the Home House, determined to restore it and to protect the land. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Rev. John and Marie White, her husband, Wilbor G. Finley, two grandchildren, Akil Reed (Toosheyah) and Donovan Finley ( Larry), five sisters, and three brothers. She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her two sons, Wilbur Graham. Finley, Jr. (Janice) of Allenhurst, GA and Walter Larry Finley of Jackson, MS and her seven daughters: Toosheyah Chapman (James) of Raymond, MS. Doris Elaine Stewart of North Carolina, Vertisteen “Teena” Fountain (Randy), Merdis Ruth Johnson (Michael), Sandra Louise Streuber (Tim), Phyllis Rebecca Jones, all of Illinois, and Donata Gazel Boykin (Charles) of Denver, CO; her brother John White, Jr. (Willie) of Raymond, her sister Hannah Butler of Byram; 30 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great great grand children, and a host of nieces and nephews and loving family and friends.
