Rev. Edward Eugene Eckman,83, died Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation will be 5-8pm Thursday at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Services will be 10am Friday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Rosemont Gardens.\ \ Rev. Eckman was born 12-29-1925 in Memphis, TN, was formerly of McComb, MS and a long time resident of Jackson. He graduated McComb high school, Mississippi College and New Orleans Theological Seminary. He served in the US Army during WWII. Rev. Eckman pastured Locus Street Baptist church in McComb during the 1950's. He was a long time employee of the Illinois Central Railroad in McComb and Jackson. He also worked many years for Jackson Public Schools as a substitute teacher. Edward served many years as a Boy Scout leader. He is a former member of Crestwood Baptist church and Parkway Baptist church in Jackson. \ \ He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years Vangie B. Eckman, his mother Lena Mae Eckman, father EJ Eckman and brother James F. Eckman. Survivors include his sons Joe Eckman, Mark Eckman and John Eckman, brother Charles D. Eckman of McComb, sister Norma Winford of Vienna, MO, grand children Mark Eckman Jr., Joshua Eckman, Christy Eckman and Shay Eckman. \ \ On line register book at www.chancellorfuneralhome.com.\
