Rhuford Ross Farmer, 82, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Magee General Hospital in Magee, MS. Visitation will be Friday, October 12th from 5-8 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence and Saturday, October 13th from 1:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. Funeral Service at Fellowship Baptist Church in Mendenhall, MS. Burial will follow at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Farmer has been a resident of Braxton since 1998, moving from South Jackson. He loved his church, Fellowship Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and taught a men’s Sunday school class. He worked with the Jackson Fire Department for 32 years, retiring as Captain. An avid outdoorsman, he was a member of Price’s Creek hunting club where he owned the title of “the Biscuit Maker”. Rhuford is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean Farmer of Braxton; son, Willie (Joy) Farmer of New Hebron; daughter, Donna Mott of Braxton; brother, Richard Farmer of Madison; sister, Linda Knox of Florence and Audrey Thrasher of Terry; 4 grandchildren, Stacey Cole, Mallory Walls, Lindsey Farmer and Tori Mott; and 4 great grandchildren, Rhett Ducker, Deacon Cole, Cannon McMillan and Gentry Cole.
