Mr Richard Wallace "Wally" Nicholson

Richard Wallace Nicholson, 76, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Jaquith Nursing Home. Visitation will be 11AM-1:00PM Wednesday, December 24 followed by the funeral service at 1:00PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at Briar Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Nicholson was a lifelong resident of Florence and was a member of Briar Hill Baptist Church. He was a godly man who was very involved in his church. Mr. Nicholson was an amazing husband, father and grandfather. He was a wonderful partner to his loving wife Dot. Wally retired from Farm Bureau after 44 years, where he started in the mailroom and worked his way up to Vice President of Underwriting. In his free time Wally enjoyed baseball, fishing, golfing, going camping and MS State athletics. Mr. Nicholson is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Buford Coy Nicholson, Jr. and Dave Nicholson. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Nicholson; son, Richard Wallace “Bubba” Nicholson and wife Kelli of Brandon; daughter, Vicki Nicholson McNair of Florence; brothers, Pete Nicholson and wife Sandra of Madison, Johnny Nicholson of Brandon and Jim Nicholson and wife Renee of Star; sister, Bette Downard and husband Willard of Florence; and grandchildren, Lindsay McNair Vance and husband George of Mobile, AL, Kyle McNair of Clinton, Bradley Nicholson of Austin, TX and Chandler Nicholson of Brandon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Briar Hill Baptist Church.
