Robbie Hilda Arrington Tingle, 93, was reunited with her loved ones and her Lord on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 in Florence. Visitation will be Saturday, December 31st from 12:00 PM until the 2:00 PM Funeral Service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories. Robbie was born and raised in Quitman where she graduated from Quitman High School and worked her first job at the Quitman Post Office. She left Quitman when she met her husband, Fletcher and they married before he went overseas in WWII. When he came back, in the 1940’s, they settled in Philadelphia and ran the movie theaters on the square there in town and later owned a dress shop. They moved to Jackson in the mid 1950’s where she worked with her husband at Combined Insurance. They raised their son in Jackson, and 16 years later were pleasantly surprised with their daughter. She later worked with W.T. Grants and Roses retiring as the Office Manager at Roses. After her husband died in 1993, she moved to Byram to help raise her grandchildren and joined First Baptist Church of Byram. As her health declined, she moved to Florence, living at Falcon Crest, then later, Villa South making friends and being the life of the party wherever she went. Memaw, as she was known by most, enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, loved going to the boats, and spent every Sunday cheering against the New Orleans Saints ever since the targeting scandal and cheering against Tiger Woods whenever he played. In a conversation with her daughter, according to her, “I don’t have a mean bone in my body, there are just some people I don’t get along with”. Robbie was the last of 5 daughters and is also preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Cora Lee Arrington; her husband of 50 years, Fletcher W. Tingle, Jr. and the light of her life, her son, Hardy Tingle. She is survived by her pride and joy, her daughter, Sandra Chancellor and her husband Bill of Terry; grandchildren, Ashley (Keith) Murray, Allie Chancellor, Jenny (Justin) Craig, Katie (Josh) Hall, Zach (Paigelee) Chancellor, Chris (Lynn) Tingle, and Tiffany Scharpf; 13 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way; brother-in-law, Melvin (Betty) Tingle of Decatur; sister-in-law’s, Katherine Tingle of Rolling Fork and Hona Tingle of Brandon; and daughter-in-law, Janice Tingle of The Villages, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Memorials may be made to Blair E. Batson or any charity of your choice in her name.
