Rev. Robert Anding

Rev. Robert E. “Bro. Bob” Anding, formerly of Florence, MS, died Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the age of 91. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 20th from 5-8 PM at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence and Thursday, March 21st from 10 AM until the 11 AM funeral service at Marvin United Methodist Church in Florence. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park on Clinton Blvd. Rev. Anding was a graduate of Millsaps College, Mississippi State University, and Emory University’s Candler School of Theology. Rev. Anding was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service as an infantry sergeant in WWII. He was an active minister in the United Methodist Church and taught religion, sociology, and ministerial studies for many years at Millsaps, where he mentored several generations of Mississippi pastors. After retiring from Millsaps, Rev. Anding taught the Bible and religion at Hinds Junior College. Throughout his ministries at Millsaps and serving churches in Jackson (Galloway and Capitol Street) , Bolton, Monticello and Florence, “Bro. Bob” was loved and admired for his humor, kindness, and generosity. Rev. Anding is survived by his wife, Mrs. Billie Jean Brewer Anding; sons, Jamie, Skipper and Charlie; grandchildren, Jason Anding, Blake Anding, and Emily Anding; and his sister, Ms. Nellie Crawford.
