Robert Lee Atherley, Jr.

Robert Lee Atherley, Jr. of Florence, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2022, in Waynesboro, TN. He was 60 years old. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, October 14^th from 1:00 -3:00 p.m. with a Celebration of his Life service beginning at 3:00 p.m. all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS.   

Robert was born March 26, 1962, in Sacramento, CA to Robert and Marie Atherley, Sr. He has lived in Rankin County for around 16 years, with the last 6 years in Florence. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force where he retired as MSGT. He spent the past 16 years working for Boeing’s C-17 Aircraft Division as the Field Services Supply Representative in MS, supporting the USAF and MS Air National Guard’s C-17s shipping aircraft parts to maintain our nation’s C-17 worldwide fleet of aircraft. He served on the Board of Directors of the Antique Vehicle Club of MS where he shared his love of old cars. He also enjoyed being a member of the MS Corvette Club and the MS Classic Cruisers. His other joy was riding horses with his local group, Happy Trails.

Robert is preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Atherley, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Kathy Harris of Florence; mother, Marie Atherley of Florence; sister, Marie Loraine Sanchez of Thornton, CO; and brother, Lynn Alan Atherley of Warrensburg, MO.
