Mr. Robert “Bob” Edward Boyd, 88, passed away Monday, December 9, 2019, surrounded by his family in Florence. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, December 11th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and again on Thursday, December 12th from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories. Bob was born January 1, 1931 in Mt. Vernon, IL to Robert L. and Otha Boyd. He was retired from the U.S. Navy as a Navy System OMB Technician after 36 years. During his time in the Navy, he served in Vietnam where he received the Bronze Star and numerous other medals and Awards. He lived in the Bahamas for a while and loved it there. Later in life, he enjoyed watching football, golf, and the History Channel. Along with his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Cecile Boyd and a brother that was killed in combat. He is survived by his son, Craig Boyd of Washington; one sister; his niece, Gloria Hall Taylor and her husband, Michael Taylor of Florence; great nieces, Tori Cox and Taisley Taylor; and great nephews, Bryan D’Avy and Bentley Taylor.
