Robert Earl Brown went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ November 12, 2018. Bob was born October 23, 1931 in Edwin, Alabama. He is preceded in death by Nancy, his wife of 62 years, parents, Ira Hubert and Mae Dell White Brown, sister, Majorie Pearce and brother, Hubert “Pete” Brown. Bob is survived by his brother, Maxwell(Dean) ,sister-in-law, Betty Brown, two sons, Randy( Susan) and Charlie Anthony(Kitty), two granddaughters, Toni Shirey( Brian) and Lori Jenkins(Cody), two great grandkids, Noah and Hannah Shirey, numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Bob loved his Lord, family, friends and winning. Bob met Nancy while playing on a football and baseball scholarship at Holmes Community College. Their baseball team won the 1951 state championship for their division which he was one of the winning pitchers. Nancy was the homecoming freshman maid that year. Bob was blessed with amazing athletic abilities and was drafted by the Pittsburg Pirates farm club in Florida. He and Nancy were married before making the trip to Florida. Even though his time with the farm club only lasted one spring season, he continued to play semi-pro baseball until his late thirties. Bob was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame at Holmes Community College in 1996. He had a fulfilling 20 year career at Delta Exploration Oil Company where he traveled extensively throughout the United States and the world. He made a career change in 1972 and completed another 24 years at Deviney Construction Co. where he made many dear friends. He was an avid golfer and he looked forward to playing golf twice a week with his golfing buddies, Harold Boteler, Coach Buddy Bounds and son, Randy. It also gave them an opportunity to discuss and solve the world problems on the ride to the course. Bob left an enduring legacy in his life, family and friends and he will truly be missed. We are all comforted in the fact that he will be with his Lord, wife, Nancy, family and friends gone on before him. Visitation will begin 5 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, Nov. 15 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, Ms and 10am to 11am on Friday, November 16 followed by the service at the Chancellor Funeral Home Chapel. There will be no graveside service. Donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
