Robert Rudolph Bryan

Robert Rudolph Bryan, 76, walked into the arms of our Lord on August 18, 2023.

He was born on December 24, 1946, in Jackson, MS to the late Rudolph and Foy Pittman Bryan.

Robert spent the majority of his childhood deep in the woods and on the Pearl River. He had a love for the outdoors and the wonder of God’s creation. His favorite days were spent hunting and fishing.

He graduated from Murrah High School in 1965. His two best friends, Gray Hilsman and Frank Barnett walked through each stage of life together.

Robert met his bride, Susan, in 1974. Over the course of 47 years of marriage, they built a life full of love. The couple welcomed their first son, Rob in 1976 quickly followed by Clay in 1977. Ben completed the family in 1986.

Robert was a talented salesman and he made connections all over Mississippi. He took pride in his work and used his travel to witness to people. He was a man of strong faith and could often be found quoting scriptures to friends and strangers alike. He served as a deacon at various churches, taught Sunday school, and participated in prison ministry.

He loved to feed his family with what became affectionately known as “The Bryan Meat Meal.” Robert started each day by calling each of his sons. He loved to have good conversations over coffee or an ice-cold Coke Cola.

Robert was extremely proud of his grandchildren Kay Kay, Neely, Jackson, Caroline, and Josh. His legacy will forever live on in their lives.

Robert is survived by his wife, Mrs. Susan Nell Neely Bryan; children Rob, Clay (Jennifer), and Ben (Heather) and five grandchildren, extended family members, and several friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Rudolph and Foy Bryan and brother John.

Visitation with the family will be held Sunday, August 20 from 4:00-6:00 pm at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS. A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at First Baptist Church Richland visitation with the family at 12:00 pm service to follow at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 21st.
