Robert Rivers Harris, a life-long resident of Jackson, passed away on October 17, 2010 at Pleasant Hills Community Living Center.\ Mr. Harris was born in Crystal Springs, MS on February 18, 1923. He was a 1940 graduate of Forest Hill High School and attended Hinds Junior College. In 1943, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country until 1946, at which time he was honorably discharged.\ Mr. Harris began a successful career with Farm Bureau Insurance Company in 1951, serving as Hinds County Agency Manager. During his tenure at Farm Bureau, he received numerous state and national honors.\ Mr. Harris was a charter member of Daniel Memorial Baptist Church in south Jackson, where he served faithfully for sixty-four years as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, department leader, choir member, and member of multiple committees. His deep love for the Lord and his church was evidenced by his dedication and service through the years. \ In his leisure time, Mr. Harris was an avid golfer and loved watching Atlanta Braves baseball.\ He was preceded in death by his loving wife of forty-nine years, Theresa, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grady M. Harris, and brother, Jack Harris.\ Mr. Harris is survived by his daughters, Lynn Sumrall (Ronie) of Raymond, Kaye Hardy (Dub) of Clinton, Gay Stuart (Barry) of Sugarland, TX, nine grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.\ Visitation will be held at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram on Tuesday, October 19, from 5:30-8:00 pm. and 10:00 am Wednesday at Daniel Memorial Baptist Church.\ The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 20, at 11:00 am at Daniel Memorial Baptist Church with burial to follow at Lakewood South.\ In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Daniel Memorial Baptist
