Mr. Robert D. "Bob" Pope, Sr.

Robert Daniel “Bob” Pope, Sr., 89, of Jackson went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 20, 2016 following a lengthy illness, at Merit Health Central. Bob was born in Neshoba County and raised near Kosciusko. Following Zama High School, he joined the Army in WWII, serving in Italy. Upon his return, he attended Jackson Commercial College and became well known for working over 40 years in the automobile industry and after retirement worked 10 years for Labcorp. He was an active member of Parkside Baptist Church where he served in several capacities. He is preceded in death by his parents John Curtis Pope and Lora Alma Burkes Pope; three brothers, Richard, David, Lavown and an infant sister, Ruby. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Patsy Berryhill Pope; two sons Danny Pope and Mark Pope (Anne); two daughters Linda Bishop (Al) and Marcella Martin (John); sister Opal Shaw; five grandchildren Brian Pope, Scott Pope, Chandler Bass, Jennifer Delonge and Barbie Pope; and four great grandchildren. Visitation will be 10am until the 11am funeral service Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, followed by interment at Lakewood South.
