Robert Theron Rosson, Sr, 81, died Friday, April 11, 2014 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation will be 9:30-11am Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Madison United Methodist Church in Madison, MS with funeral services beginning at 11am with Rev. Jim Genesse and Rev. Linda Rickman officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:30pm Tuesday at Mizpah Cemetery in Durant, MS. Mr. Rosson was born March 2, 1933 in Durant, MS to the late Robert Eli Rosson, Jr. and Sally Kate Cummins Rosson. He attended Durant High School, Holmes Jr. College and was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. Mr. Rosson retired as manager of J.C. Penney in Hammond, LA after serving 36 ½ years with the Penney Co. He managed J.C. Penney stores all over the southeast but most recently in Natchez, MS, Clearwater, FL and Hammond, LA. He was a member of Madison First United Methodist Church, former member of Ponchatoula United Methodist Church in Ponchatoula, LA, and a charter member and president of the Natchez Exchange Club. He was an avid Ole Miss football fan always believing this would be the year that Ole Miss would beat LSU. Survivors include his wife of 59 years Kathryn Campbell Rosson of Madison; children, Robert T. Rosson, Jr. and wife Beth of Oxford, Chris Campbell Rosson and wife Carol of Madison, Terry Land Rosson of Knoxville, and Glenn Cummins Rosson and wife Lisa of Mobile; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
