Charles Robert “Bobby” Thigpen, 62, passed into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at his home in Florence. There will be a private Memorial Service at Briar Hill Baptist Church with burial in Briar Hill Cemetery. Bobby was born September 16, 1958 in Jackson, MS to the late Robert Edward and Doris Ball Thigpen. He worked as a Project Manager and Estimator with McInnis Electric. He was a quiet leader with impeccable integrity and a loyal friend who loved his family dearly. In his spare time, Bobby loved nothing more than spending time with Sue at their weekend home in Gulfport. There, they enjoyed Crusin’ the Coast every year. He also enjoyed leather working, hunting and fishing, and he loved working on classic mopar cars. Along with his parents, he is also preceded in death by his sister, Debbie Driscoll and his former fiancé, Peggy Ford. He is survived by his wife of 8 years, Sue Thigpen; stepdaughter, Rhonda Smith and step granddaughter, Linda Smith, both of Middletown, OH; sister, Judy (Richard) Stevens of Florence; brother, Ken (Chris) Thigpen of Madison; brother-in-law, John Driscoll of Glen Allen, VA; nieces and nephew, Kelley Seitz, David Seitz, Meagan Berry, Lauren Eklund, and Lyndsey Dill; and a host of great nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Briar Hill Baptist Church Building Fund.
