Robert W. Westerfield

Robert “Bob” W. Westerfield went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at his home in Richland, MS. He was 90 years old. The family will receive friends and extended family for visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS. The funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Richland Cemetery in Richland, MS.  

Bob was born on November 2, 1934, to Wallace Arthur Westerfield and Ella Mae Shaffey Westerfield in Northville, Michigan. He has lived in Richland, MS for 51 plus years. He was a faithful member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church, where he was in charge of ringing the bell for service every Sunday. Bob served for the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and retired after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, a lifetime member of the VFW and the Good Sam Club. He truly had a servant’s heart. The joy that filled his heart was spending time with his great grandchildren. He will truly be missed.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Ella Westerfield; brothers, Wayne Westerfield and Charles Westerfield; and sister, Evelyn Westerfield Lucas. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Cooper Westerfield of Richland, MS; sons, Jeffory Westerfield (Tina) of Stanton, GA, Gregory Westerfield (Darlene) of Dacula, GA, and Chester Wallace (Libby) of Belle Chasse, LA; daughters, Bonnie Falcon (Bob) of East Greenwich, RI, Kimberly Schlageter of Lawrenceville, GA, and Christine Wallace Overby of Florence, MS; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
