Robert Stanley Wootan, 93 died Friday, April 3, 2009 at Highland Home Nursing Home in Ridgeland. Visitation will be 3-5pm today at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram and Monday from 10am until the 11am service at the funeral home.\ Mr. Wootan was born Feb. 5, 1916 to Daniel Clay and Augusta Harmeyer Wootan, in New Orleans, LA. In 1943 he enlisted in the United States Army/Air Force. He served three years in the Air Corps serving as an airplane mechanic, flight engineer and aerial gunner during WWII. He flew 39 combat missions during his military service overseas. When he returned from overseas, he served as crew chief of a B-29 at Gulfport Field. He was very proud of his military service and received many honors.\ He and his wife came to Jackson in 1952 and started Bob Wootan Moving and Storage Co., the family business. He remained active in his business until his early 90's.\ He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Wootan Stewart, a grandson Dee Brown and his former wife Florence C. Wootan.\ Survivors include a son Tommy Wootan and wife Beverly of Jackson; Daughter Stanlee Wootan Brown and husband Dan of Byram. Step-son Troy Festervan and wife Wendi of Pearl. Grandchildren Cindy Stewart, Duke Stewart, Shannon Stewart and Robbie Myers and wife Renee all of Terry. Jason Myers and wife Melissa from Madison. Tiffany Reagan Wootan and T. J. Wootan of Jackson.
