Robert Wayne Shows passed away on Friday, September, 14, 2012, at his home at the age of 81.\ \ Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 until the 2:00 P.M. chapel service at Chancellor Funeral Home, Florence. Burial will Follow in Florence Cemetery.\ \ Mr. Shows was born in Jackson, MS on May 31, 1931. He moved to Florence, MS in 1932 and was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church. He was raised on a dairy farm, worked at the Florence Phone Company, and ran a service station. He retired in 1991 from Ferrell Gas Company. During his retirement he served on the Southwest Rankin Water Board.\ \ He was preceded in death by his parents Everett and Carline Shows, his brothers, Everett Shows, Jr. of Crystal Springs, Paul Shows, Jack Shows, Rex Shows, of Florence, and a great granddaughter, Bailey Grace Yates. \ \ He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Doris (Dot) Shows, daughter, Brenda (Glenn) Taylor, and son Michael Shows of Florence; his grandchildren Brandy Yates, Matthew Taylor, Eric Shows, and Cameron Shows; his great grandchildren Justin Taylor, Tyler Yates, and Samuel Shows. He is also survived by his brother, Russell Shows, and sister, Carrie Jones, both of Florence; and many nieces and nephews.\ \ Family was very important to him. During retirement he put many miles on his truck riding around checking on everyone. He enjoyed watching Brandy play softball all over the southeast. Fishing with his son Michael and grandsons Mathew, Eric, and, Cameron was one of his favorite activities. He loved to travel to places like the Holy Land, Germany, Rome, Ireland, Yellowstone National Park, Glacier National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, Washington, D.C., Canada, and Alaska. He loved to camp in the Smokey Mountains with the grandchildren. He also liked beekeeping with Matthew.\ \ His latest hobby was taking his mules, Pesco and Penny on trail rides. He rode in the Dixie National trail rides for many years where he took great pride in being the oldest trail rider. He made many new friends during those week long rides. After his son built a barn for horses to be boarded, he spent many hours on the porch visiting with people.\
