Rodney R Slay

Rodney R. Slay, 95, of Terry, MS, passed away on November 20, 2024, at the VA Nursing Home in Kosciusko, Mississippi. He was born on November 19, 1929, in Carthage, Mississippi to his parents Walter Slay and May Slay. . He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Hilda Jean Slay, his parents, eight brothers and a sister, and a daughter, Linda Baldwin (Blufton, SC).

 Remaining to cherish Rodney’s memory are a daughter, Brenda McMillan (Terry, MS), grandchildren, Dr. David Lee McMillan Jr. (Huntsville, AL), Bradley McMillan(Jackson, MS) Ryan McMillan (Terry, MS); Aby Harris (Blufton, SC), Amy Reeves (Raymond, MS), and a host of other Family and friends.

 Rodney loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener. His woodworking skills were stellar. He could build anything, fix anything, grow anything; if you named it, he could do it.

Rodney made friends easily, and he kept them forever. He was a rock for his family, and he was loyal to the core. His love for his family was evidenced in a thousand ways. 

The most important thing in Rodney’s life was his faith. It was reflected in all areas of his life. He trusted in Jesus Christ alone for his eternal life. Because of this, we know that we will see him again. His death was our loss, but it was truly his gain.

 A Visitation will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024, from 10 am until 11 am, the Funeral Service will begin at 11 am, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, MS, with burial in Carthage, MS, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife and numerous other family members.

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
