Mr. Ronnie Earl Slay

Ronnie Earl Slay, 68, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at his home in Florence. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 5th from 5:00 – 8:00 PM and Thursday, August 6th from 9:00 AM until the 10:00 AM Funeral Service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow at Hazlehurst City Cemetery. Mr. Slay loved his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his church, Brown Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He was the retired Police Chief in Crystal Springs and served in the MS National Guard. Mr. Slay was preceded in death by his first wife, Diane Slay; his parents, Earl Wayne Slay and Ruth Bennett Slay Miles. He is survived by his wife, Dianne Slay of Florence; children, Ronnie Slay, Jr. of Crystal Springs, Shannon (Donnie) Gomillion of Crystal Springs, Carrie (Bubba) Farmer of Crystal Springs; step son, Shilo (Shanna) Farmer of Vicksburg; sister, Sheri (Mike) Stewart of Magee; 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; and his best friends and fishing buddy, Shelby Sykes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to S. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
