Ruby Chapman Johnson, loving wife and mother went to be with the Lord on January 30, 2010. \ Visitation is 5-8pm Monday and 10-11am Tuesday at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Funeral services are 11am Tuesday at the funeral home with burial following at Florence Cemetery. \ \ Ruby was born on February 14, 1929 in Cato, MS. She enjoyed a full life as she went everywhere her husband went in the USAF as she was able to transfer on her job with Bell Telephone System. She spent two years in Japan where she and her husband adopted two boys. Ruby retired from BellSouth in February 1981 with 34 years service and since that time she and her husband have visited all the lower 48 states as well as a 9 week tour of Alaska in their RV. She has been fighting a tough disease for the last ten years but continued to enjoy her Church and traveling. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Florence, MS. \ \ Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Thelma Chapman, four brothers, two sisters, and a son Wendell Ross Johnson. \ \ She is survived by her husband of 59 years Oyd Johnson, a son Jim Johnson of Lubbock, TX, a daughter Carla Nations (Mike) of Pearl, MS, 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. \ \ Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation or to the Building Fund, First Baptist Church, Florence, MS.\
