Wessie Rudolph Lawrence age 80 of Brandon, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Crossgates River Oaks Hospital in Brandon, on Saturday October 30, 2010.\ \ Rudy attended Clark College from 1948-1951, where he later joined the army. He was a crypto specialist in the army where he served most of his time in Fort Quachuca, Arizona from November 1954-1956. Rudy was also with the Jackson Police Department for thirty years. He was successful in everything he did from being a business owner to being a great devoted husband and father who will be missed dearly. Rudy was a member of Midway Baptist Church where he loved to serve the Lord.\ \ He was preceded in death by his parents Wes and Inez Lawrence. Survivors included his wife of 28 years, Shirley Lawrence of Brandon; brother Tim Lawrence (Tammy) of Brandon; son Ken Lawrence (Kim) of Columbus, OH; daughters Lynn Vinzant of Jackson and Tammy Putnam of Brandon; grandchildren Tiffany Worrell, Misty Putnam, Haley Putnam and Jacob Putnam; great grandchildren Audrey, Waylon, and Nathan.\ \ Visitation will be from 6-8pm Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Services will be 11am Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Midway Baptist Church with a one hour visitation prior to the service.
