Mr. Russell Eugene Shows

Russell Eugene Shows, 94, passed away February 1st at MS Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation will be 5pm-7pm Tuesday, February 4th at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Services will be 10am Wednesday, February 5th at First Baptist Church of Florence with visitation on hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Florence Cemetery. Mr. Shows was born on October 22, 1919 to E.L. and Carline Shows. Mr. Shows was retired from the Postal service where he worked for more than 30 years as a rural letter carrier. He was also a building contractor for many years. He served in World War II with the 13th Naval Construction Battalion, Seabees, of the US Navy and was an active member of the local VFW chapter for many years afterwards. Mr. Shows was a member of First Baptist Church of Florence where he worked for more than 60 years as a Sunday school teacher and enjoyed numerous mission trips to assist with building churches in other states. Mr. Shows was preceded in death by his wives, Frances Barlow Shows and Kathleen Morgan Shows. He is survived by one daughter, Suzanne Harris and her husband Chester of Dayton, Ohio; stepdaughter, Kathy Horne of Florence; stepson, Don Morgan and his wife, Jan of Richton. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer Enseleit and husband, Stephen of Oakwood, Ohio; Greg Harris and wife, Amanda of Miamisburg, Ohio; and five great-grandchildren; Gavin, Garrett, and Avery Enseleit; Calvin and Caetlin Harris.
