Ruth Sullivan Smith, 86, went to be with the Lord on July 27 at Regency Hospital Center in Jackson. She was a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church. Visitation will be 5-8pm Wednesday, July 29, 2009 and 9am until the 10am funeral service Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. A second funeral service will be held at 1pm Thursday, July 30, 2009 at New Sardis Baptist Church with interment following in the church cemetery.\ \ She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Smith and parents Alma and James Sullivan and brother J. C. Sullivan. She was survived by two sisters Marie S. Palmer and Inez S. Shoemake both of Jackson. Aunt Ruth had 10 nieces and nephews, 14 great nieces and nephews and 23 great great nieces and nephews. She was more of a Mom than an Aunt to all that loved her. \ \ She was born in Simpson County and graduated from Mt. Olive High School before coming to Jackson. Aunt Ruth was a waitress at the Elite Restaurant for over 50 years where she had friends instead of customers. Many of the restaurant's patrons would request to be seated in " Ms Ruth's Corner."\ Aunt Ruth loved to collect dolls, furniture, and many things from the "good old days." She leaves behind many loved family and friends. Memorials may be made to Southern Hills Baptist Church.\ \ \
