Mrs. Ruth Norris Smith

Ruth Norris Smith, 88, passed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at MS Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, March 21st from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. and again from 12:00 p.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow at Sinai Cemetery. Mrs. Smith was born in Hot Coffee, MS to Grady and Venus Norris. She was a long -time resident of the Hickory Ridge community and member of Hickory Ridge Baptist Church. She worked for many years as a cook at Hudspeth Center where she eventually retired. Along with her parents, Mrs. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Claude W. Smith; her son, Mike Smith; and her siblings, Hershell, Grady, Lillan, and Cortis Norris, Rachel Jones, Sue McDonald, and Marie Blackwell. She is survived by her son, Milton Smith of Florence; and sisters, Helen Mooney of Crystal Springs, Linda Sherman of Taylorsville and Ernestine Ervin of Collins.
