Sara Spivey Pierce, 84, affectionately known as "Memaw" , died Friday, June 5, 2009 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation will be 12noon until the 2pm funeral service Saturday, June 6, 2009 in the chapel at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment will follow in Lakewood South\ \ Mrs. Pierce was born June 14, 1924 in Philadelphia, MS to Alston and Sarah Virginia Spivey. She was a graduate of Central High School in Jackson and worked for Bell Telephone Company for 5 years and Deposit Guaranty Bank for 23 years. Mrs. Pierce was a member of Griffith Memorial Baptist Church. \ \ Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Ingram of Jackson and Kathy Stewart of Raymond; sisters, L.K. Spivey and Patsy Pierce both of Jackson; brother, A.C. Spivey of Ridgeland; grandchildren, Cynthia Cole, Angela Ingram, Jackie Brooks, Karen Grzanich and Kevin Stewart; nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.\ \ Memorials may be given to Griffith Memorial Baptist Church or the Alzheimers Association.
