Sheila Rose Phelps

Sheila Rose Phelps entered the gates of heaven on April 18, 2025. She was born on February 21, 1948, in Jackson, MS, to Dr. Russell J. Crider and Dr. Mildred M. Crider.

Sheila was a schoolteacher at multiple schools and ended her career in Mendenhall, MS. She loved leatherwork and painting as well as her horses. Cooking was her passion, but God was her life. She loved her church, New Covenant, in Harrisville.

Sheila is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Russell J. and Dr. Mildred M. Crider, and her brother, Russell “Rusty” M. Crider.

She is survived by her son, Scott Phelps (Amanda); her daughter, Jennifer Brown (Jeremy); her four grandchildren, Alicia Phelps (Cole Leber), Levi Phelps, Austin Brown, and Greyson Phelps; her great grandchild, Myra Morgan Phelps; her sisters, Tammy Kay Corkern and Kris Seymour (Marvin); and several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Visitation will be held at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, with a chapel service at the same location. Following her chapel service, a graveside service will take place at New Covenant Church in Harrisville, MS.
