Mrs. Shelah Mathis Teeters, 62, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016 at her home in Florence. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 19th from 5-8 PM and Thursday, October 20th from 12:00 PM until the 1:00 PM Funeral Service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson. Shelah was born in Memphis, TN and has resided in Florence for the past 10 years. She graduated nursing school from University of MS Medical Center and received her Nurse Practitioner degree from MS University for Women. She retired from the VA Medical Center after a 36-year long career. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and was the Past Queen of the Daughters of the Nile, El Kanah #142 Jackson, MS. She loved helping with the Shriners Hospital for Children and was a Board Member of the MS SIDS Alliance. Mrs. Teeters is preceded in death by her parents William Gerald and Olivia Johnson Mathis and by her son, Michael Gerald Teeters. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, James Teeters of Florence; daughters, Jennifer (Sam) Buc of Madison and Melissa (Derek) Crenshaw of Richland; son, Chad Teeters of Henryetta, OK; sister, Deborah (Tim) Smith of Kentwood, MO; brothers, William (Cathy) Mathis of Corinth, Ricky (Robin) Mathis of Olive Branch, Ronnie Mathis of Corinth and Terry Mathis of Memphis, TN; grandchildren Kaylyn Welburn, Katie Buc, Michael Teeters, and Haley Holloman; and great grandchildren, Khloee McIntyre and Haven Holloman.
