Shirley Ann Nicholson Carpenter, 78, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2016 at her home in Terry. Visitation will be 2-5pm Sunday, April 9, 2017 and 9am until the 10am funeral service Monday, April 10, all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park. Mrs. Carpenter was born in Neshoba County, MS to the late Marvin Watkins Nicholson and Flora Delois Coats Nicholson. Having come from Jackson, she lived in Terry for the last 22 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Byram. Mrs. Carpenter was a homemaker who loved taking care of others before herself, was a great cook and avid gardener. She was an affectionate, caring mother, grandmother and devoted wife. She is preceded in death by her son, Alan Wade Carpenter and brother Harold Nicholson. Survivors include her husband of 57 years James “Junior” Carpenter of Terry; son, Jim (Camellia) Carpenter of Terry; daughter, Cindy (Dale) Watts of Mobile, AL; brothers, Paul Nicholson of Jackson and Marvin Nicholson of Greenwood; sisters, Mary Ingram of Cleveland and Doris Counts of Carrollton; grandchildren, Lindsey C. Goddard (Jeremy), Olivia Watts and Thomas Watts; great granddaughter, Camellia “Millie” Rose Goddard.
