Mrs Shirley Mae Dyess

Shirley Mae Fridge Dyess, 82, passed away at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS on October 20, 2014 after an extended illness. Visitation will be at Chancellor Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the 11:00 AM funeral service at Star Baptist Church on Thursday, October 23rd. Mrs. Dyess was born on January 17, 1932 to Eugene Singletary Fridge and Etna Lee Fridge. She married Reverend Vance Harvey Dyess on November 18, 1951. They were lovingly devoted to each other for 58 years until his passing on March 26, 2009. Reverend Dyess and Shirley faithfully served as pastors for over 50 years. She loved to sing, cook, work in the yard, and spend time with her family. She was the greatest wife, mother, and grandmother anyone could ever ask for. She was loved by all who met her. Mrs. Dyess was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her sister, June Shirley Fridge Stanley. She is survived by her sons, David (Barbara) Dyess and Van Dyess; daughters, Belinda (Bill) Taylor, Luann (Roger) Smithhart; grandsons, Todd (Kim) Dyess, Jason (Heather) Dyess, Heath (Leslie) Taylor, Josh (Kate) Taylor, Britt (Emilee) Taylor, Jeremy (Brittney) Dyess; granddaughters, Allison (Matt) Flynn, Maegan (Jeffrey) Parker, Nycole Gentry (John Nelson); and 19 (soon to be 20) great grandchildren. The family would like to express gratitude to: Monica Cooper of Briar Hill Nursing Home, Pat Loftin and Cathy Porter for their love and care, the nurses at Baptist Hospital (6th floor east), and Hospice Ministries. Memorial gifts may be given to Alzheimers Association or Baptist Children’s Village.
