Stennis Garrard, Jr.

Mr. Stennis Garrard, Jr. passed away at the Copiah County Medical Center on Friday, May 31, 2024, at the age of 73.  The family will receive guest on Tuesday evening June 4, 2024, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, MS.  Another visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Wynndale Baptist Church in Terry from 9:30am until the 10:30am service. Bro. Jerry Smith will be officiating and Bro. Hoyt Ainsworth will assist.  Interment will be at Terry City Cemetery.

 Mr. Garrard was born on June 2, 1950, in Jackson, MS to Mr. Stennis and Mrs. Christine Garrard. He attended Byram high school and lived his whole life in the Terry/Byram area.   Stennis served in the navy on a submarine and was in the Vietnam War.  He worked at Blaine’s Upholstery Shop doing car upholstery until he retired. He was a member of Wynndale Baptist Church in Terry.  He loved to be outdoors; hunting, fishing and gardening. His grandchildren and his great-grandchild were the joy of his life and he loved them very much. 

 Those preceding Mr. Garrard in death were his parents, a step-son, Aaron Hughes, and a sister, Sandra Price.  He is survived by his wife, Dianne Barron Garrard; step-sons, Jason (Ali) Hughes of N. Carolina, Grant Hughes of N. Carolina, Sam (Natalie) Yarborough of MS; step-daughters, Tammy Jay of TN, Caree (Timothy) Slusher of S. Carolina; sisters, Ann (Steve) Therral of MS, Phyllis (Trey) McLean of MS, Pam (David) Deihl of VA; sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
